Targeted one-on-one DELF and DALF exam prep with a tutor who knows what the examiners expect.

Preparing for the DELF or DALF takes more than textbook review. It takes targeted practice with a DELF and DALF exam tutor who knows what the examiners expect.

Dr. Melissa Kerley, who holds a Ph.D. in French from Tulane University and has taught French for more than 30 years, personally matches every student to a tutor based on their goals, background, and learning style. No algorithms. No random assignments.

Your tutor is a native French speaker, drawn from a team spanning 15 Francophone countries across 5 continents. Every session happens live over Zoom. You get real-time feedback and a plan that adapts as you improve.

What Are the DELF and DALF Exams?

The DELF and DALF are the official French language diplomas from France’s Ministry of Education.

Universities, immigration offices, and employers around the world recognize them. DELF and DALF diplomas never expire. They are valid for life.

The exams test four skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Each skill is worth 25 points, for a total of 100. You need at least 50 to pass, and no single section can fall below 5.

You register for the specific level you want to certify. Each level has its own exam.

DELF and DALF Levels at a Glance

DELF Levels

  • DELF A1, Beginner: You can handle basic, everyday interactions. A strong first milestone for new learners.
  • DELF A2, Elementary: You can manage simple, routine tasks and describe your immediate surroundings.
  • DELF B1, Intermediate: You can handle most travel situations, describe experiences, and share opinions on familiar topics. Often required for residency applications.
  • DELF B2, Upper Intermediate: You can argue a position, follow complex texts, and speak spontaneously. Required for French citizenship. Commonly required for French university admission.

DALF Levels

  • DALF C1, Advanced: You use French fluently in academic or professional settings. You can read demanding texts and express ideas with ease.
  • DALF C2, Mastery: The highest level. You can summarize and reconstruct arguments from multiple sources with precision.

We prepare students for all six levels. Whether you are starting at A1 or aiming for C2, your tutor builds each session around the skills and question formats your exam requires.

How We Prepare You for the DELF and DALF

Our DELF and DALF exam prep starts with three things: targeted practice, real exam conditions, and honest assessment.

Diagnostic evaluation. Your tutor starts by assessing where you stand across all four tested skills. This helps them spot gaps and focus on the areas that will move your score the most.

Skill-specific coaching. The oral production section trips up a lot of otherwise strong candidates. So does structured written argumentation at B2 and above. Your tutor drills the exact task types you will face, not general conversation practice.

Simulated exam practice. Before your test date, you run timed practice exams that mirror the real format. You get detailed feedback on each section so you know exactly what still needs work.

Every tutor is a native French speaker, personally vetted by Dr. Kerley, from a team spanning 15 Francophone countries across 5 continents. Sessions are one-on-one over Zoom, scheduled around your availability. You can also meet our French tutoring team.
